Welcome to driving, landscaping, gardening and
living..... byplug.com.
Please
note: byplug.com is not a not
a radical eco friendly web site. Here, we are
more interested in the REAL, practical science and
technologies that are available today and in the near
future. This site is about opinions,
thinking out loud, questioning authority, inviting
conversation, ideas and taking the REAL steps to live the
ideas here on this web site. You will also find
Electric Car News, conversation and opinions about oil,
importing
oil, gasoline
prices and
future
planning - living with less or
no imported energy and instead using domestic
energy and
dollars to power cars, lawnmowers, weed eaters... and
lives. We hope that
you learn something here, thank you.
Our mission is to
get the electric living ideas in play. We
sincerely believe that the needs of the many
have been purchased or framed in a negative
light and put aside by the needs of the few.
We believe in personal accountability,
leadership, less personal and national debt
and more responsibility.
The
big picture
With the
correction in the current economy, an exciting
shift is taking place. Perhaps by the markets
that once shunned electric transportation, the
world is looking to this electric vehicle sector for growth and
big business is struggling to adapt. You hear
it everyday in the news, major
automobile companies are struggling with
contraction and having to 'pay for' and adjust to
what seems like years of "get by"
and upper level executive golf.
Electric
vehicle technologies are swimming up the big
oil stream and if you follow the news,
batteries and battery technologies have become
the 'holy grail' of the coming wave of
electric vehicles. Investors are investing
'real' money in battery companies foreign and
domestic. Electric car clubs and hobbiests who
converted gas cars using multiple linked
traditional car batteries are getting a more
serious look these days and Large SUV manufacturing
plants are closing and retooling to create
profitable small car plants.
Here in Southern California, a weakened
economy has forced entrepreneurs to find other
business ventures. Solar powered
product companies are getting a harder look
these days, even from older generations who
are trying to justify amortizing solar
products for their homes and business's.
The word
is spreading. It will be expensive for early
plug-in electric vehicle adoptors because
they purchase the 'not mass produced' low
quantity leading if not bleeding edge 'boutique' products.
Very soon, a true plug-in electric will not be
just a home science project or expensive
vehicle. A highway speed capable, plug-in electric vehicle will not
just be trendy and 'cool' to purchase, it will be a
fiscally smart decision. Electric
transportation technologies are starting to
dominate the auto news and major auto manufacturers
and suppliers, foreign and
domestic, are scrambling to bring products to
the show floor for the 2010 model year.
Here
they come
We
absolutely know
that a number of people are waiting until the
electric vehicle has a plug-in
capability and some range so they can
live byplug. Among things like safety and style, we are
looking for inexpensive battery replacement
costs and long battery life cycles. Although the electric movement
has begun, we believe that the end of 2009
(model year 2010 vehicles) and through 2011
will spark the greatest change in direction
for local
electric transportation. Some electric vehicle
companies will come and go but look for
innovation this year from pure electric
vehicle or hybrid models that are more
affordable such as the Aptera 2e, Nissan LEAF,
and the more expensive GM Volt. We predict that the demand for
less expensive electric plug-in vehicles, greater range
electric vehicles and hybrids with 100 miles
or more EV only range, more
efficient power grids, harvesting solar and
renewable energies will be the next big business
growth areas.
Exciting
times
For years, the
idea of electric transportation has been clouded by
inexpensive gasoline, big oil policies to sell
more product and the big oil relationship with
the auto manufacturer to 'stay the course',
larger horsepower engines each year, easy money, special interest
lobbies and foreign business interests. These
corporations, purchased politicians and other parties
have had and continue to have a direct effect on our lives and our United States National
Security. Big business will continue 'to look
out for itself'.
So, we need to
look out for us.. as stated earlier above... We believe
in personal accountability, leadership, less
personal and national debt and more
responsibility. It seems that voting and holding our wallets
seems to get lots of attention.
So with
that said, let's look at some videos and ideas
below. Let's take a different longer term
perspective view using the 'Oil and
Gasoline' tab above and dream a little on the
"Wouldn't It Be Great" tab
selection. By the way, the "Wouldn't It
Be Great" tab selection has a few
'extras' that indirectly help to finance our
electric LifeStyles. mail@byplug.com.

You have to

funny.
We are not sticking up for

believe that this is what big oil and big business would like
to frame in your mind.

This video is
interesting because this video
came out around the time GM was

directly compared and contrasted
to the video above because this is
the type of vehicle that the auto
