**The project is in partnership with Nissan North America, which will deploy 4,700 of its all-electric Leaf vehicles which are scheduled for release in fall 2010. As part of the project, Oregon expects to receive just under 1,000 of the Nissan vehicles and around 2,000 charging stations, centered around Portland, Eugene, Salem and Corvallis.

Automakers Unveil Significant World and North American Debuts at the Los Angeles Auto Show

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 29, 2009 - A cautiously optimistic automotive industry will kick off the North American auto show season by launching all-new vehicles and featuring ground-breaking technology at the Los Angeles Auto Show's press days Dec. 2-3. The show will open to the public Dec. 4-13.  

Slow electric cars? Freeway Speed plug-in electrics go both ways (slow and fast) and don't clog the issue, or the road.

(byplug comment: This rendering of the Aptera 2e shows a car that is so clean but now appears to have the necessary changes to reflect a more mainstream product. We notice a line before the rear bumper. Replaceable bumper section? Very nice looking. Way to go design team, how far away is this from production or has it been started already? After all, it is October.)

Luxury Electric Car Start-Up Gets Half-Billion-Dollar Federal Loan

Fisker Automotive, a start-up company with plans to build an exotic hybrid luxury car, has won a $528.7 million loan from the federal government.... more ... 

(byplug comment: Half a Billion Dollars?.. for a LUXURY electric car startup? Fisker has great technology and style but,... Half a Billion to Fisker alone?  The money is intended to go to a lower cost model that will start at $39,900 (after tax credits)...Wow!   Why not give a company like APTERA - 100 million of that money?
Bottom line:  Note to Fed: Give Aptera our money. If you have to give away money (our money), let's spread these dollars around to startups that intend to offer even less expensive electric vehicle product, have also done their homework and have proven prototypes.)

(byplug comment: ....remember - perhaps a year or so ago.....the political candidates sitting on a panel and answering questions about 35 miles per gallon...... and all candidates but one.... talking of the great strides, at the time, of the auto industry to get up to 35 miles per gallon! ....wow. )

     For the long run, The People of the United States should demand with their wallets, plug-in all electric and hybrid cars for local commuter transportation, trucks, infrastructure, movements, links, sponsors and other plug-in electric devices to replace foreign oil and eventually harness domestic solar, wind and other alternative energy solutions. We promote the constructive and positive channeling of anger for 'U.S. no option' high gas prices.
