RE: Aptera and no DOE money... again...
Today, the DOE awards again and this time it is...
$175 million to others....and the electric car beat goes on... without Aptera?

RE: Aptera, one beautiful car... and over the years ...no answers.... crickets.....crickets

You have to ask yourself...why no DOE money for Aptera... yet or ever? Is it the Aptera car design itself? Is it that the DOE does not like the Aptera board of directors or the people who run Aptera Motors? Bad timing? Or a combination of factors?  Why is Aptera Motors not getting the DOE money for the Aptera 2e? We have heard things like  "answers are coming...exciting news, stay tuned" for years from Aptera Motors..... but again....... nothing... crickets.....crickets.

RE: direction

The U.S. needs a big ticket sales shift...

I want to love Ford but I can't, not yet... not until  the new Focus all electric.

byplug.com. - My Grandfather loved Ford. It was the only pickup truck there was. Every few years he would get a new Ford truck and now that I think about it, all of his cars were Ford as well. When the '64 Mustang came out, he had a light yellow with black interior 289 V8, one of the first ones. He used to burn rubber for us and we loved it!

Now, however, Ford has lost the family love. While we have an older Ford expedition and a Lincoln Navigator in the family and take out occasional bank loans to fill their tanks, most of our daily driver cars are imports that are more efficient and I would like to change that situation.

Let's talk trucks.... When I think about a truck, I look at all the brands, Ford, Toyota, GM, Dodge and others but, I just can't do it. I like the styling of the F-150 the most but, the mileage is 1970's even with the latest ECOboost engine, I call it the OPECboost engine. When will Ford lead the way and build the E-150 before Toyota builds something like the E-Tundra using plug in Prius tech? I picture a truck with Hybrid technology like Chevrolet's Volt with a high torque electric motor and the ability to go about 40 or 50 miles all electric up to about 75-80 MPH? Plug it in at home at night and perhaps bundle with DeWalt tools so the truck could have a tool box with 7 slots for tool batteries that also are fully charged and a side electric outlet for 120 volt temporary power for a remote job or project, truck is a generator if the battery is low. With both electric and engine, the truck would have greater torque than anything today. So, when?

Why is everything copy or imitate instead of risk and take a chance, leadership and then profit. The 1964 Mustang was a gamble that paid off big for Ford.

Ford is saying that they will come out with an all electric Focus for 2012. Is that my moment to start loving Ford? If you follow byplug.com news web, you know that I hammer Ford all the time regarding the Mexico jobs built 2011 Ford Fiesta that maybe delivers 40 MPG highway while Ford already has built and sold a same body style Fiesta in Europe that gets 76 MPG highway in Europe called the Econetic since 2008 during our U.S. continued oil debt of about 1 billion a day purchase of oil from the Middle East.
see ford Fiesta Econetic and other Econetic models in the U.K.- link here.

So......., when can I love Ford, again? Maybe when the Econetic models are finally built in the U.S. by U.S. workers... or better yet, American built electric Fords.

It is completely up to Ford. Until then, VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET. Plan. Be a true patriot.  Dig out of personal debt and get an electric car or truck for local commuter transportation. Electric cars use American energy dollars. Make and market electric cars and trucks in the United States. Make electric cars and trucks profitable. It's a start.

EcoBoost-powered Ford Edge and Explorer...

 "push envelope"..... on fuel efficiency

"The 2012 Ford Edge and Explorer utilities are now available with an advanced 2.0-liter EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine, ideal for drivers placing the highest priority on fuel efficiency. Building on Edge's best-in-class V6 fuel efficiency, EcoBoost and active grille shutters help the versatile crossover return EPA ratings of 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway."

"The capable Ford Explorer raises the bar with best-in-class full-size three-row SUV fuel efficiency, with EPA ratings of 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. EcoBoost is a high-tech engine technology combining turbocharging and direct gasoline injection with smaller displacement to provide the power buyers want along with the fuel efficiency they need."

(byplug comment: "push envelope" ...Really? ....just plain sad.......does Ford's United States marketing department know that people can get on the internet and find information over in Europe like this:
see ford U.K. link here.

In the U.S. for FORD it is the ECOboost (OPECboost) engine (pushing the envelope!).

In Europe for FORD (a different market... there are "business reasons" that they drive differently than we do) and it is called ECONETIC.  see ford U.K. link here.

Europe version* The ultimate choice for environmentally aware drivers who don’t want to sacrifice driving quality, style or presence. With all the glamour and elegance of the other Fiesta models, the ECOnetic offers a class-leading, low CO2 emissions performance of 98g/km. Fiesta ECOnetic features:

•Specially calibrated version of the 1.6 litre, 90PS Duratorq TDCi engine with Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
•
Impressive combined fuel economy of 76.3 mpg
•Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
•Air-conditioning

U.S. made electric cars are " 'THE' way out".

...U.S. electric cars made in the U.S. are new technology that reduce dependence on foreign oil (U.S. debt) keeping energy dollars here at home and are a bigger ticket purchase item (add to U.S. GDP) ... that manufactured here in the United states create jobs for American workers (lowers the U.S. unemployment rate).

U.S. electric cars are a WIN WIN because the U. S. electric car uses American energy dollars when used in the United States.)

It is possible that one out of seven of the people in the Ford Fiesta picture above are on U.S. GOVERNMENT FOOD STAMPS and the 40 MPG highway Ford Fiesta bound for the U.S. is made in Mexico....and huge profits for Ford Motor company in the first quarter of 2011.... European Fiesta Econetic 76.3 MPG highway since 2008.... wow.

CAN WE GET U.S. GOVERNMENT FORD FIESTA STAMPS AND U.S. GOVERNMENT GASOLINE STAMPS? HOW ABOUT U.S. PROPERTY TAX STAMPS AND MAYBE U.S. GOVERNMENT MONEY STAMPS?

The people that are jumping around a MADE IN MEXICO built and imported into the United States - Ford Fiesta that gets much lower MPG than the European version of the Ford Fiesta (Econetic diesel) may be on FOOD STAMPS because of the high U.S. unemployment rate! By the way, the Mexican unemployment rate is about 4.61% as of this article.

PRESS RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 2, 2009 – Ford’s hot-selling new Ford Fiesta will deliver more than just great looks and top fuel economy of any vehicle in its segment when it goes on sale in North America next year. The 2011 Fiesta – available in four- and five-door body styles – also will set a new small car benchmark for safety, connectivity and powertrain technology.

In fact, Fiesta will offer North American buyers a stylish new choice of 15 class-exclusive technologies and projected highway fuel economy of 40 mpg, besting the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa and Toyota Yaris and Corolla.
