Nationally, one in four homeowners owes more on its mortgage than the current value of the house.

In Nevada, the nation's most extreme case, the figure is 70 percent--nearly three homes in four homes under water, according to the Congressional Oversight Panel. The are entire swaths of Nevada, in places like North Las Vegas, where empty homes stretch as far as the eye can see, and even homeowners who are current on their payments are finding their home equity vanishing into the desert wind. story link

Aptera says "Lost in Translation" - so  wait...there's more..."
reprint from Aptera Newsletter - March 2010 - Vol. 2 : Issue 3

Lost in Translation

One of the most challenging things about traveling abroad can be the very same thing that we often take for granted - communicating. Aptera's CEO, Paul Wilbur, experienced this challenge first hand during a recent interview with Automotive News China (reprinted in the China Car Times). The message got somewhat lost in translation, so we thought that we would clarify some key points.

The article says - "...Aptera Motors is now in China looking for production partners,..."

Clarification - Aptera is looking for partners to help in the production of Aptera vehicles for the Chinese market. Building Chinese market vehicles in China will help Aptera to be more competitive in that market.

The article says - "We would build vehicles here (China) and send them back to the U.S."

Clarification - Aptera plans to manufacture Chinese domestic vehicles in China. North American market vehicles will be manufactured in the U.S. at one of two domestic, U.S., facilities. We have no plans to build U.S. vehicles in China, and plans for the rest of the world markets have yet to be defined.

The article says - "I think it would be pretty easy to start production in China as most of our suppliers are here.

Clarification - It would be pretty easy to start production in China as most of our suppliers have supply operations and branch offices in China. Most of our core system suppliers are in fact U.S. based companies, but nearly all of them have a global presence.

The article says - "Aptera's battery charger is made by Delphi automotive together with Delta-Q Technologies"

Clarification - Aptera is in conversations with several battery charger suppliers such as Delphi and Delta-Q Technologies. There are several others that we are evaluating that were not listed.

The article says - "All crash tests have been passed and this vehicle can drive on freeways today"

Clarification - Aptera vehicles are freeway capable in the U.S. today, and are designed to meet crash test requirements. However, we still have a fair bit of testing left to do before we can say that "all crash tests have been passed."

We hope this helps to clear up any confusion, and next time we will buy the boss a Rossetta Stone.

Coming, stay tuned...

Can you say Nissan LEAF?

Nissan North America Selects AeroVironment To Install Home-Charging Stations For Nissan Leaf - January, 2010

Detroit, Mich. - Nissan North America (NNA) announced its selection of AeroVironment (NASDAQ: AVAV) (AV) to supply electric vehicle home-charging stations and installation services supporting the introduction of the zero-emission, all-electric Nissan LEAF later this year.

Q: How does the charger work?

A: The home charger is typically mounted on your garage wall and connected to your home's electrical system. You plug it into your car when you get home, and unplug it when you're ready to drive.

Q: How fast does it charge?

A: Depending on the battery size and the design of the vehicle, in many situations the home charger can fully charge an EV in as little as four hours.

Also: Zero to 80 Percent in 15 minutes: New Benchmark for EV Fast-charging - THINK announced that it will work with AeroVironment, Inc. (AV), a leading developer and supplier of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, to pursue demonstration and commercial projects using AV’s level III fast-charge system and the THINK City electric vehicle.   more ..

Debt Oil and Debt Consumer Products = U.S. economic certain death.
THE END.

When you think about an electric car... Do you think about this... War? Yes? No? Maybe? ... What do you think?

(byplug comment: U.S. National Debt, DEBT OIL (FOREIGN OIL) dependence, weaker dollar and 'Trouble' in foreign lands.
That 'trouble' may also be listed under a completely different headline such as "The U.S. Needs to Go 'In' Because" .. "Terrorism strikes" or "Terrorism might strike" or "Terrorism Potentially Could Be Striking"... or "Could Become a Terror Hub" or "Rebels Causing Problems to Other Governments" ...and of course the U.S. needs to help because of Democracy and the goodness of our hearts".. you may or may not agree, just asking you to think. so... read the headlines...What do you think? Is there an oil (debt oil) war connection? .. It's O.K. because here in America, we really don't care about energy, fuel, MPG, debt or National Security and we would rather have taxes instead of innovation. Just listen to Mark Fields of Ford.  When asked about the European version of the vehicle, Ford America President Mark Fields said,...

Peak Oil Demand Is Coming, But Here's Why It's Not Good News -
Business Insider - The Money Game - Chris Nelder March, 2010

**Without cheap energy to fuel the growth that is hoped to pay off the accumulated debt, austerity will become an everyday reality, not a short-term fix. A reality that slowly sinks in for the rest of our lives, as net importers become progressively poorer.

Slow electric cars? Freeway Speed plug-in electrics go both ways (slow and fast) and don't clog the issue, or the road.

BE THE BEST THAT YOU CAN BE?
RE: Let's raise taxes - instead of planning.
FUEL FOR THOUGHT  -   A SEVEN STEP PROGRAM.
RE: Miles in One gallon of fuel:

One vehicle is diesel, one vehicle is gas.
Both vehicles measured under the U.S. gallon.
You can't have the diesel (to help lower the oil deficit)  but, you can have.... more taxes.

STEP 1.    ...See the picture directly below:

STEP 2.   Now, you would think that because of rising Trade Deficits due partly to the U.S. importing oil and U.S. business sending our oil money to countries that don't seem to like us (see picture above), that we (the U.S. and American people) would want better technologies and ultimately - miles per gallon in our economy cars, right?

It seems that would help families save money at the pump and use less gasoline or diesel that would in turn lower imports of oil and deficits. We would and should use the best technologies available to deliver the best MPG to families and commuters in the United States. Right? WRONG!

STEP 3.  Apples to Apples - The 2011 U.S. version of the Ford Fiesta "is expected to deliver" best-in-class highway fuel economy of U.S. measured 40 mpg. ...and... Customers can place their order for a 2011 Ford Fiesta through their local Ford dealer beginning on Monday, February, 15. Gasoline only for U.S. (of course)

STEP 4.  Apples to Apples - The 2009   European version of the  Ford Fiesta delivers best-in-class highway fuel economy of U.S. measured 74 mpg.  ...and... Customers have been driving their 2009 Ford Fiesta in Europe from their local Ford dealers since it went on sale in November of 2008.

STEP 5.   74 mpg - 40 mpg = 34 more miles PER gallon of fuel.

STEP 6.  Do YOU SEE A PROBLEM? Perhaps an attitude about 'the' business.
According to the article, Ford America President Mark Fields says
"But there are business reasons why we CAN'T sell it in the U.S." (byplug comment: in other words, We need to raise your taxes instead of planning for the future.)

STEP 7.  WOW. so here we are again...

The Europe version Ford Fiesta article was printed back on Tuesday, September 09, 2008

At the time of this article, the Fiesta ECOnetic might sell for $25,700 in the U.S.  A $1,300 tax deduction for consumers buying diesel cars would bring the price down to around $24,400.

Let's say this again. "74 mpg freeway". 34 more, paid for, still available to burn, additional, less emissions, less deficit (that is plus the 40) miles in a gallon of fuel.
34 extra miles - IN ONE GALLON !!

The subcompact seats five (that is five people) and comes with a navigation system.
Ford's 2009 Fiesta ECOnetic went on sale in November 2008 .....ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLYONLY ONLY ONLY ONLYONLY ONLY ONLY ONLYONLY ONLY ONLY ONLYONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY ...... in Europe.

Here is my favorite: According to the article, Ford America President Mark Fields says "But there are business reasons why we CAN'T sell it in the U.S."

The Fiesta ECOonetic runs on a 1.6 liter, four cylinder, 89 hp, turbo diesel engine.

Now, today in my email comes this happy news, yay!!!

OH BOY!!!! FORD FIESTA CONTINUES TO TURN HEADS; MORE THAN 6,000 RESERVATIONS BOOKED BEFORE ORDERING BEGINS MONDAY! YAY!!!!

  • Fiesta momentum continues with 6,000 reservations and more than 100,000 handraisers, months ahead of its launch this summer
  • All 50 states are represented in reservations with interest from both Ford and non-Ford customers; 51 percent of Fiesta reservations are from non-Ford customers
  • Customers can place their order for a 2011 Ford Fiesta through their local Ford dealer beginning on Monday, Feb. 15
  • The new 2011 Ford Fiesta is projected to deliver best-in-class highway fuel economy of 40 mpg and will offer 15 class-exclusive technologies
  • The New 2011 Ford Fiesta

“Driving around in my Fiesta made me feel like a rock star. That little green car received envious stares from strangers, accolades from friends, and occasional rounds of applause from gearheads I ran into at gas stations. I can’t think of any other car I would rather own,” said Fiesta Movement agent Bliss Dennen.

(byplug comment: Let's just raise taxes MORE instead of planning on a way to lower the deficit and increase jobs. ......After seeing the difference in marketing the Fiesta here and in Europe and the MPG for the FIESTA U.S. and the diesel European model, I also feel a Fiesta Movement coming on.)

Back to electric cars in a second...
What do you think? This has to be said again:
Subject: Fwd: Time Has Come - 28th

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.

The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its' forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law (hmmmm?). I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that  applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States".

New Report Published - Saudi Arabia Oil And Gas Report Q1 2010 - Published on January 13, 2010 by Press Office - LONDON, ENGLAND

...For 2009 as a whole, we have assumed an average OPEC basket price of US$59.00 per barrel (bbl), a 37.3% decline year-on-year (y-o-y). This represents an upgrade from the US$55.00/bbl forecast we were using in the previous quarter.

For 2010, we expect to see a significant oil price recovery to US$83.00/bbl for the OPEC basket price, gaining further ground to US$85.00 in 2011 and to US$90.00/bbl in 2012 and beyond. more ..

(byplug comment: Why couldn't the paragraph above really read like this: For 2010, we expect to see a significant United States national debt increase, when our exported debt oil increases to US$83.00/bbl for the OPEC basket price, and United States national debt continuing to increase even beyond that as our debt oil continues gaining further ground to US$85.00 in 2011 and to US$90.00/bbl in 2012 and beyond.)

Ok, so you read or hear about international trouble.
U.S. National Debt, DEBT OIL (FOREIGN OIL) dependence, weaker dollar and 'Trouble' in foreign lands. Venezuela, Yemen, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia just to name a few - on the net, in papers and on TV. It is interesting how that 'trouble' is in the same geographic locations or bordering locations as DEBT OIL imports and DEBT OIL interests.

1.)  National Security threat. That 'trouble' could be listed as "The United States is now 60% - 70% dependent on DEBT OIL and  presents a major U.S. economic problem
if the DEBT OIL flow is disrupted in any small way".

2.)  That 'trouble' may also be listed under a completely different headline such as the U.S. needs to go 'in' because .. 'Terrorism strikes' or 'Terrorism might strike' or 'Terrorism potentially could be striking or building' or 'Rebels causing problems to other governments' ...and of course the U.S. needs to help because of Democracy and the goodness of our hearts"..

3.)  hey, American voters and tax payers...  1+1 = 2         ...not 5.

JUST THE FACTS:
Ask yourself this question: if the U.S. was not in debt, NOT DEPENDENT on DEBT OIL or DEBT energy solutions and the U.S. had more manufacturing here in the United States creating more of our own jobs/products, would the U.S. be as INTERESTED in these foreign geographic locations? Would the U.S. be able to make better national decisions without such large compromises because of DEBT OIL and debt consumer products  with other governments?  What happens when the U.S. is not the 'sanctioning' body but, instead, the U.S. is the one being 'sanctioned'?

HERE IS A TOOL FOR YOU:  ...simply click on the LINK or world picture below for an Interactive DEBT OIL import tool that shows foreign imported energy over the years - it has an automatic mode and a slider that allows you to 'see' the growing U.S. dependence on DEBT OIL.

PLEASE NOTE: ..the thickness of the line indicates the dependence increase or decrease from location.... YOU CAN ALSO PICTURE THAT THESE SAME LINES THAT CONNECT THE COUNTRIES TO SHOW 'DEBT OIL' IMPORTS...ARE SHOWING UNITED STATES DOLLARS and JOBS LEAVING THE COUNTRY TO THOSE FOREIGN LOCATIONS.

**You might also remember interesting news stories of the past and events that correspond with the past 'locations' or 'bordering locations' that DEBT OIL used to flow from. Also, use the tool for today's political headlines and make some comparisons. Do you think Saudi Arabia gets preferential political treatment?

Morning coffee with Patrick (and his Tesla)
January 06, 2010 - B. Neal Henderson - hour ago

At the local Fourbucks coffee shop, while enjoying a morning coffee, Patrick Duffy and his faithful passenger (his dog), quietly hushed up alongside my car this morning in his Tesla Roadster. I could not help but admire his Tesla and we talked for a while.

Patrick's Tesla has a display feature that allows the driver to program the replaced vehicle mileage with the gasoline saved by driving a Tesla Roadster. Patrick replaced a vehicle that averaged 13 MPG with his Tesla.

Here is an image of the current vehicle stats since replacement:

0-60 MPH in about 3.8 seconds! Yes, the Tesla is expensive and you could buy lots of gasoline for the difference in vehicle costs but, Patrick is an early EV adopter and he is now using American energy dollars to power his transportation. When these vehicles and this technology become more efficient and less expensive, this single example speaks for itself.

(Patrick, for your friend with the Prius and 70 MPH all electric driving and battery conversion, here is information about the Prius conversion company run by Kim Adelman called pluginconversions.com. link

Also, Patrick, additional Prius plug-in conversion information and videos located here about half way down the page. http://www.byplug.com/news_3.html)

(byplug comment: FINALLY!  Since we already gave almost a half of a billion dollars to Fisker Automotive and a half of a billion dollars to Tesla Automotive, let's finish this measure (President Obama). Sign this measure quickly and then immediately allocate 100 or so million - hard earned American dollars through the DOE funds Vehicle program to a company with an affordable freeway speed - plug-in electric like Aptera. Let the mass production begin and let's get building thousands and hundreds of thousands of Aptera 2e's (CARS) here in America. Go Electric car movement, goodbye more foreign oil, and you GO! Aptera! This is BIG NEWS.)

What is this "leasing" the electric vehicle or "leasing the battery itself" stuff that we are seeing in the media. Let's see, have we not heard about Leasing electric cars before - see: "Who Killed the Electric Car?".   "Yes I would like that truck over there but, what?, I have to lease the engine?"
It is called .....'a manufacturer's Warranty'.
Bottom line:  YOU control the debt. Pay off something else first and then finance the same or lower debt load. YOU own the vehicle at the end! We have already seen ' Who Killed the Electric Car? '!
Just say "NO" to electric car leasing or electric car battery? leasing!

For the long run, The People of the United States should demand with their wallets, plug-in all electric and hybrid cars for local commuter transportation, trucks, infrastructure, movements, links, sponsors and other plug-in electric devices to replace foreign oil and eventually harness domestic solar, wind and other alternative
energy solutions. We promote the constructive and positive channeling of anger for 'U.S. no option' high gas prices. We promote the constructive and positive channeling of anger for poor and non existing leadership in current major financial and automotive markets.  We believe in personal accountability, leadership, less personal and national debt and more responsibility. We are a member of the growing Electric Car Markets, Electric Car infrastructure, Electric Car Products, Sponsors and other general Electric Cars information.
